Previews of Coming Attractions

Although the Commission project that I am working on is not a "signed" deal yet, I needed to get started as the time line to get a number of pieces done is so short.
So here are segments of the three I have begun. The one above is "Tulips". It is ready to be quilted.

This one is "Mother & Child" and is finished.

This one is "Mums" and is being quilted as we speak.

Hope you like them...I have to work in a certain color palette as well which is a challenge.

Lily Complete

Here is "Lily" completed with the binding and border finished.
I am pretty happy with it. It has been shipped off to the art director for this commission
job I am trying to get. So far it looks pretty positive.

Busy Signal

You may not hear from me for a bit. I am busy negotiating a commission and until that is settled and I get this job opportunity, I will not have much time for three months to blog. Hopefully it will work out and then I will be able to post what I have accomplished a few times a week.
Cross your fingers!

Funky little Teapot

Even after being in the antique business for 15 years it never ceases to amaze me what
funny little things people have designed in the past, like this "funky" little 3inch teapot.
Just a funny little shape with a funny little bird perched on the lid.
You can't help but smile.

Hearts for Anna Auction

Today starts the "Hearts For Anna" auction (look here). Please try to help this artist in her fight against cancer. There is some terrific art for sale.

Egrets, Packing & Borders

It has been a hectic couple of days. There just was no time for blogging unfortunately. However, I think things are calming down now and hopefully I will get back to some normalcy.
Here is the photo my brother Jeff shot from his car when traveling through the Horicon Marsh area of Wisconsin. It is my copy of it not the original photo so excuse that.
I am just picturing it as a gorgeous quilt and will find the perfect background blue for this one.

Then I had to pack up my two quilts (Turtle Soup and The Intruder) for the "Quilt Expo" in Madison Wisconsin. My sister, Bonnie, came over and brought her New York Beauty Quilt that she entered and we shipped them all together. We each looked over the others quilts making sure there was nothing overlooked.

The only thing I had time to do on my Lily quilt is audition a border and binding. I am pretty sure I am going with this choice.

Our weather has gone from hot and humid back to sunny and wonderful with temperatures in the high 70's and low 80's. I got about 1/3 of my flower beds weeded and hope to get out there after dinner tonight to finish up.

Bob is working on our second story porch and putting up all new railings made out of that stuff that never needs painting. Hoorah! I painted it the last time and it was a huge job. This will be nice to never have to do that again. So...things are looking up!

Egret

I am so excited. My brother once again has sent me a photo that I have to make into a quilt.
I know I talked about doing his loon but this one is so amazing!

I can not share with you yet....and must first finish some other work....but it is an amazing shot of an egret and you will be amazed that it is nature at it finest!

Hearts For Anna Donation

I wanted to contribute to the "Hearts For Anna" fund raiser auction so I made this small
5" X 7" quilt titled " Faith, Strength & Love". I wanted to show the outpouring of well wishes coming from around the world to help Anna fight cancer once again.

I am continuing on with "Lily" auditioning fabric for a binding.
I hope to begin the quilting this weekend.

Lily Progress

Worked all afternoon on the lily and then again this morning.
Still needs more shadowing and that reed to the right needs moving now.
It is coming along.

"Lily"

As you can see, over the last few days I have found some time to work on my quilt, "Lily".
I have used various green fabrics from my stash to make the pads.

I added curled up sides on some of them to add dimension.

Then some reeds working through them for a verticle element.

Last I added a few buds just beginning to open.

Now it is time to find some whites and begin the flower.
