Cobs & Nest

I continue to work on the corn cobs on my next quilt.  I am beginning to like it now.....took a while for me to get the leaves on the corn cobs to look good together.  I have a pile of rejected ones now for some unknown project in the future.

I have been playing with ideas for a border on this one too.  It changes everything when you add a border and I want to make sure this one needs it.

In the meantime  I checked on the nest on my front porch.  Still no new babies and the hatchling is getting bigger and bigger.   Is this normal for it to be that far between hatchings?  I will keep watching.

You DID IT!

I don't know about the eggs hatching. I do know that the three little birds in our nest were different sizes. I, too, was worried that the large one would hog all the food, but the parents seemed to make sure they each got food.

Those leaves are stunning in the fabrics you used, really gorgeous shades. I have no color training, I just go by what looks pleasing to my eye and I will fuss over one little thing till I get the right shade, sometimes. It could be it was early or the other eggs are bad, only time will tell.

I love the way the corn is looking now. It's worth all those other leaves that you didn't use.

I think you nailed the shape of those leaves. They look like they are sort of swaying.

As for the birds, I am not an ornithologist but I play one on tv...

A bit of a bumpy road....lots of auditions of leaves that did not work, but great to use on a future project.

Glad you all like it so far.

My children are fascinated by your photos of the baby bird and nests of eggs, watching with great anticipation to see what will happen next.
Love your work, lovely shading and dimension in your applique and stitching.
