"Washday With Frieda" - No. 35
Although I have not quilted this yet, the design is finished and this is the last one for my commission.
There is a story with this quilt. When I was growing up we lived next door to a rather wealthy family who had nine kids, just like my parents. Unlike them, we could not afford a housekeeper. Their housekeeper's name was Frieda. She was a plump woman who was always
loving to us as well as the children she took care of. For some reason, as this quilt progressed, I was drawn to those early memories, perhaps in search of simpler times of running in and out of the sheets as they hung on the line.

The farthest away of the two trees looks so real, and gives this piece such great depth! And I think you have definitely captured that feeling of a sweet memory...so dreamy.
Beautiful quilt, I can remember running through sheets as a child too. The smell of clean bedding comes instantly to mind. Wish this quilt was mine.
How lovely is this! The atmosphere, the wind, the use of the printed fabric as grass or herbs + the translucent sheet in the front. Perfect!
This may be your best one yet. The fabrics are perfect and I can almost feel the wind blowing. I just love it!
I agree with Joyce-this may just be the best one but I would be hard pressed to pick!

Thank you all for enjoying my childhood memory depicted here. I love the sensual feelings you conjured up Eva. I read it and began smelling those sheets as though I were there.
It is sometimes hard to part with a quilt, but I remind myself of all the mothers that will be enjoying these as well as nurses and doctors. I also tell myself....I can make another.
Thank you all for your continued support without which this journey would not have been the same.
