Changes - Continuation - New Direction

It has been a while since I posted. In those weeks I finished No.17 "The Trellis" which is in
my two colors of slate blue and yellow. The trellis is self created and the flowers and birds are broderie perse. It was a lot of quilting and doing the small meandering stitch almost drove me crazy but I got it done.

The art director I am working with decided we needed to change directions now. She wanted more abstract quilts. In some ways it was a relief as I was beginning to burn out on mother and children themes. So I made "Sprigs" and quilted it today, No. 18.

Then i designed "A River Runs Through It" and have just begun quilting it tonight. It is No.19.

On my design wall is "Fauna". I am still moving elements around and adding embellishments so it is far from complete but has a good start. This one will be No.20!

It is a long journey filled with excitement, stress, creativity, discussion, collaboration and
growth. I am 2/3 there now. One more month to go until my deadline.

No. 16 - "The Fawn"

I was not going to post this one since the photo turned out horrible, but since I have the time right now I did it anyway. It is really dark in this photo where in reality it is much brighter.
The border is a slate blue and there is seafoam, lavender, yellow in this. At least you can see the composition. I will retake the photo and post it at the end of this series when I show the entire 28 with bindings added.

No. 15 - Endless Possibilities

Here is No. 15 - "Endless Possibilities".
I have almost finished quilting it.

Got a bit behind because before all this started, I had planned a weekend at the Lake for my husband's surprise 70th birthday Party. I rented a beautiful house on Powers Lake and all the "kids" and their husbands/boyfriends, two of our 7 Grandchildren all got there early and
loaded up the frig as well as decorated. Bob and I went down there on the pretense that I was taking him for an overnite and dinner. It was quite the surprise for him since two of our daughters live in Indiana and we do not see them as often as we would like.
So it was a great get away.

But back to reality. It was much harder to get back in the swing of creativity.
I thought I would be refreshed and ready to go but instead it was like my creative "flow" had been interrupted. It took me a few days to get back into it and feeling more like I was forcing myself to work.

Finished "Little Flowers On The Prairie" this morning.

This is No. 14 of my 28. I am at the half way point.

No. 13 - " Storytime"

I start with an idea, then a sketch on made to size paper.

Then comes choosing fabrics and colors.
Next is quilting, binding, and sleeve.
This is the process.

(For some reason that book looks Red when it is a deep pink.)

No. 12 - "Mother Knows Best"

Here is the 12th quilt for my commission, it is not quilted yet. I titled this one "Mother Knows Best".
I think it is pretty self explanatory especially for all you first time mothers and those who can remember being first time mothers.
