Distractions

I know I promised fast work on the Winter Quilt I have started but......some interruptions have happened.  One really nice one was a visit of my two grandsons.  This is Clay above, trying on Grandma's biking helmet in the studio.  He is quite the "ham".

Max is the artistic one.....loves to draw and the studio is his new favorite place to be where he can sit up high at my cutting table undisturbed by his younger brother while he works.

Then I have been biking.  The weather just too beautiful to not take advantage of.  Sunny days in the 70's could not be better.  Here are some of my travels and the gorgeous fall color.  Still not "Peak" but getting very close now.

Trust me this is a killer hill on a bike and I still can not make it up without stopping and resting or walking the rest of the way up.  Beautiful view though.  Only about 5 blocks from my house.

And yes, just a bit of studio time to add some details to my winter scene.  I am happy with it so far.

Scenic Ride

Rode what seemed like 10 miles but ended up being only 6!  It is so hilly here and the bike path is still compromised going East so you have to take the Hilly western section.

However you do get to go on the bridge over the Mullet River shown here and it is just turning colors now so it is beautiful.

I used to ice skate all the way from the ice skating rink up this river.  We would count the bridges and tell people how many bridges we passed to brag about our accomplishements.

After the river I pass the big soccer /baseball/ softball field which sees plenty of activity in the summer.  It is beautiful and is enjoyed by all the local teams.  This is the flatest section before coming to more big hills.

So....nothing to show from the studio but I promise to get back at it tomorrow.

Biking

Well today was my first real biking day.  I got all my official cycling clothes on and road out to the "Plank Road Trail".  I did not bring a camera this time...just wanted to concentrate on the bike and shifting and enjoying the ride.  Did find some great spots to return to tomorrow for photos.  Road for a about an hour or more....it was so much fun.  Joined a site called Strava where you record your rides using the GPS on your phone and then try to improve your distance etc. it records each of your rides.  So tomorrow I will start using that and try to make improvements until winter stops me from riding.

This will be the perfect thing to do when needing to take a break for the studio and get the blood circulating again.  Gotta love retirement.
