Barley & Ozzie & IT & Gouldians...... Oh My!

We are having new windows put in the upstairs of our house.  They are coming tomorrow.  So I had to move everything in my studio in preparation.  This pretty much has put me out of business.  So I was out in the yard with Barley (top) and Ozzie late in the afternoon yesterday.  We are having some gorgeous 60 degree weather.  So they were happy to be out and browsing the yard.  I am glad because it will not be freezing in the house when the windows go in.

I am working on my "Interpret This!" piece and making some progress.  Here is a bit of a hint early!
As you can see part of my background is quilted.

My Gouldian Finch quilt is on the design wall and on hold right now.

Interpret This Hint

Well after the loss of Winston, it took me a while to get back at it in my studio that I had become so used to sharing with him.  However, my "Interpret This" piece was due on the 28th of this month and I did not want to miss it.  So I got back to work and have now only the binding to put on before it is complete.  It did not help that this photo was a difficult one for me to work from.  It may have been more mood than anything but ideas were not coming to me.   Now I am back at it and feeling good about resolving some of the issues I have had with this mysterious virus Winston may have had.

I have learned a lot through research and talking to two of my vets as well as the specialist at the hospital we took him too.  There will never be a definitive answer but I did get as close to an answer as it is possible to get.

In the meantime the breeder has offered me another kitten.  She is being tested now to make sure she is healthy and sound.   All tests are coming back great.  By the end of this week we will know for sure.

I am crossing my fingers and hope that soon I will have another cat in my life.

The Bridge - Barbara

When a photo is as complex as this month's "Interpret This" photo, I like to grid it so I stay somewhat
true to the photo when resketching it for the quilt.

I then make another grid larger on my sketch paper and start a loose drawing of the photo.  You can see four piles of fabric that are numbered....each pile is for a different building.  I auditioned them earlier.
Now I am ready to begin.   Hopefully all will go smoothly.  Having an extra month this time is a very good thing.

Interpret This Hint Day!

Today is the day for posting our "hint" for our interpretation of the blue butterfly photo.  I have finished with the design and will begin quilting soon.  I have to quilt my goose in the corn first though as I am trying to finish it for entry in Quilt Expo in Madison.   Presssssurrrreeee!

Hint & Show

Here is my preview of my newest quilt for the blog "Interpret This!   I am doing something abstract this time and enjoying the process now that I have a start.  The photo we are interpreting is below.

Tomorrow I will be leaving at 6:30 AM for the International Quilt Festival in Rosemont Illinois.  I am going with my sister, Bonnie.  We are excited to spend the day there and see some fabulous quilts as well as shop for unique fabric and new tools.  I will tell you all about it when I return and I have my batteries on my camera fully charged.

Continued Work

I just posted this sneak preview of my
quilt that I am working on for "Interpret This!"
I am a little early but the date for the posting is on
Monday and I am totally busy that day and did not
want to risk missing it.  Better early than late.

I thought this would be perfect for the sneak peek since it is just that!   I am pretty happy with how this is developing so far.  Still debating about a few "embellishments" but all in all it has been fun once I found my direction.






We are having another treacherous foggy day.  They say it will be our last one and I hope so.  It is not good once you leave town and are out on the highway especially at night.  You can barely see a few feet in front of you.  There have been a few accidents due to it but so far nothing like the huge pile up we had several years ago.  The good news is most all of our snow is gone with the exception of the snow banks made along the streets from plows.   I was outside this morning with my dogs and I saw some of my daffodils are peeking out as well.

Sneak Preview
