"The Boat"

 "The Boat"
33" X 16"
Original Design
Rawedged Fused Applique
Machine Quilted

Here are the three of my water scene quilts.  Starting at the top is "The Boat"  then "Lily Pads & Cattails" and finally "Reflectons".   I am happy with all three as a series.  It was fun working on each one of them individually and then helped me get through the difficult time of closing our Antique Shop and liquidating .  The calmness portrayed in each one helped when things were in chaos.

This will complete this small series and now I will move on to something new and fresh.  Thank you for visiting.

Progress & Photography

Sorry for another gap in my posts.  My camera came and I had to start learning at least some basic steps to start using it.    However, I did make some progress on The Boat....added some pickerel weed...more lily pads ...still need more...just keep working it until I am happy with it.

Took my Mom with me to the Farmers Market in Elkhart Lake and took this shot of the corner coffee shop and Mill that houses some gift shops and a small grocery.

This is "Blinky", my sisters horse.  He stays out at Mom's and just had to have his picture taken.
A coleus bloom from one of my pots at home.  Liked the diagonal of the grasses with the vertical flower.
Then a Hosta bloom in my back garden.
The Red Pump which has been out at Mom's since I was little.  Thos blackeyed Susans are beautiful right now.
A Rose of Sharon in my garden....Love the color and that splash of red in the center.

Grandsons & A Boat

Had my Grandsons, Max and Clayton stay with us for a few days .....It was a lot of fun.

Max is becoming quite the artist and sat at my cutting table drawing one morning in his pj's.

Work continues in between on my boat water scene with the reeds and grasses around it.

Building

I have finished the basic parts of the boat and put it in to the scene in order to start  putting in the reeds and grasses around it.  Once those are quilted in I will return to the boat for some more of the details.  The idea of it is to look abandoned amongst the water plants so we will see how that works out.  But a good start.

Tomorrow we are going out on Crystal Lake with friends in their pontoon boat.  Crystal Lake is only about 5 minutes from us and is just like its name...crystal clear.  After our "cruise" we will go out to dinner.

Gotta love retirement!!!!

The Boat Begins

Well I have begun a new water piece...stupidly I decided to put a boat in this one.   Well it took several tries and to get the proportions right before I finally got it  and was happy with it.
Here it is partially finished and pinned onto the quilted background.  There are still seats and the backend going on but it is not bad.   This will be nestled into some reeds and other shoreline vegetation so lots more to come!

Hope everyone is having a great summer day...it is gorgeous here.  Took a break at noon and took the dogs for a nice long walk.  I think they are happy I am home now to do that with them!  I know I am!
