Quilt Expo 2010

My quilt "Cobs" has been accepted into "Quilt Expo"!
What a great surprise to start out the day.

I have been working on my IT piece pretty regularly and it is coming together nicely.

I went with my daughter, Molly to look for a wedding dress again!  This time we were successful!
I wish I could share a photo of her with you but you will have to wait until June 25, 2011 for that!

Finished!

I added the binding and finished "The Intruder" yesterday. So plenty of time to send in the application for the Quilt Expo Show.

Last night I was graciously invited by Pat Bishop (http://patbishop.blogspot.com/2009/06/she-1-in-series.html) to attend a lecture at the Appleton "Darting Needles" guild.
The guest speaker was Trish Williams from Chicago Illinois (http://trishwilliamshandworks.blogspot.com/).

The lecture was wonderful and Trish was a great speaker full of life and funny as well as
so creative. Totally self taught she just goes for it in her quilts and they are fabulous. It was an evening well spent.

Going to this lecture also gave me the opportunity to meet Pat Bishop, a fantastic quilter as well.
I have met her as a blogger but now have met her in person. It was a pleasure and
so nice that she is taking the time to inform me of opportunities offered by her guild that I might enjoy. Thank you Pat.

Leaves

"Leaves" is finished (well except for sewing on the pocket and label which are pinned on the back. I made this to hang in my very small bathroom. Our house was built in 1929 when there was no such thing as two bathrooms. So a previous owner incorporated a bathroom off the kitchen. If I had been here I would have put the door over by the steps which lead to the lower level rather than having it open into the main part of the kitchen, but unfortunately I was not and that was not done. I remind myself it is better than only having the one bathroom upstairs so quit complaining. The bathroom maybe measures 36 x 36! I am not kidding. It has a pedestal sink w/mirror and a toilet. Thats it. So now I can take down the print which people have bumped into, especially husky men like my Bob, and put this up instead.

I have decided to try putting my binding on backwards and blanket stitching it to the front. I like that idea. I used a variegated navy thread and feel it added just a bit of interest to the binding itself and the edge. Sure made it go fast too!

Hopefully You can see it in this detail. In these photos the colors are pretty true.
This quilt measures about 18" X 36".
