Building Rooster

I have been working all day on my rooster.  I like to build him up to a certain point right on my teflon sheet.  It just works for me to have a little control and I can place my tracing paper drawing on top of him to check my placement of parts like his wing and legs easier.   I begin with the feathers that are underneath which in this case means the tail.

I am working my way across his back even when the tail is not totally finished.  I did not like my fabric choice for the white area of his wings so I took that off and made individual feathers instead.

I go back to my background with him just to see how he looks on it colorwise.  This is not the exact  placement and I am not worried about that at this point.  He is just pinned on.

Once he is built to this point I fuse him on the background exactly where he is going.  That upper right hand corner of dark blue on the background is not that dark but seems to want to photograph that way.  I will move my lighting next time.   So here he sits now on a fence post which still needs work but it is looking pretty good so far.

Wow, what a difference the new colors make, and with that blue shade, really stunning color combination.
