Untitled Landscape

I had to start a new piece right away since I struggled with the last one.
I knew I needed to go back to the colors I love  which are earth tones of greens, golds, browns and blues.

I chose my sky fabric which I Love.
I found this fabric at least 2-3 years ago and have gotten a lot of use out of it as sky or a snowy hill or lots of
other small uses.

It has become one of my favorites and I hope it is never discontinued.

I like to make my strips free form and as natural as they would be found in nature.

So after pulling off the fusible, I scrunch up a section like this.

Then I take my scissors and cut the top piece
that is sticking up off.

The results are always a much more natural line and sometimes you do have to perfect it just a bit.
I progress down the quilt, changing colors and tones as I go.  I step back a lot to see how it is looking
and change it if is is not working.

My objective on this one is to have the suggestion of fields and shrubs in the background with the
blue near the bottom suggesting a stream.

Here is a closeup of just some of the fabrics I a using.  Aren't they luscious and full of texture!

I can see another beautiful piece in the works, like how you do the strips.

Your landscapes always turn out so well. (And those are my colors too!)

I like seeing your process. You're right about that sky material, it looks hand dyed and so natural.
