ROOSTER HEAD
Did not expect to post twice in the same day but thought since time is allowing me this gift then I should take advantage of it.
Here you will see the tissue paper drawing over the pieces of fabric I chose to construct this Rooster's head. Once I am happy with them I fuse them down on my black teflon sheet.
I finished his head and now will start with the feathers....I will not fuse this onto my background until completely finished but like to pin it on to keep it safe overnight and to see how it will contrast with it. Remember that once quilted all these shadows will blend in a bit better then raw like this. I am happy with it so far.

THE COFFEE SHOP
"THE COFFEE SHOP"
27 1/2" X 17 1/2"
This was a very fun journey for me. There were challenges that is for sure especially with working with those very small pieces both fusing them and quilting them. However, the results were just as I pictured it to be...fun, colorful and joyous.
I hope you too feel those emotions.
THE JOURNEY
I hope you enjoyed this journey as much as I enjoyed you following me here at my blog.
Now to start a new one....be sure to join me again.

TABLE NO. 1
My first table grouping is finished.....I am not sure if it will matter if I quilt it all first before proceeding to the nest group but I am going to do it anyway. My reason....because doing this all at once will probably drive me crazy!!! It will mean a lot of thread changes but I am hoping it will be worth it.

PAIR OF HORSES
Just finished these two horses for my newest piece....happy with the results and will stare quilting them down today. Horse no.2 looks much improved with the lightening up of his shadowed side of his face.

LEAVES & NUTS
Love building trees......have fused down the trunk and added leaves and a few nuts. Will quilt these down before beginning the bark and adding more leaves.
Today is a day to stay in the warm studio. The high winds and cold temperatures make indoor work the perfect solution. This is definitely a full winter like day. I have a feeling this is going to be the harsh winter that is being predicted because it is beginning early just like last year. So getting out the gloves, mitten, scarves and hats today.

NEW BEGINNING
Felt like diving into a new piece I had been thinking of doing while working on "The Farmhouse".
So chose my fabrics and put fusible on these pieces so they were ready to go.
I cut them randomly into strips and assembled them from dark to light for my sky. Then quilted them down. I like using this technique again.....it is the most like painting to me.....Sometimes I use larger pieces...sometimes strips like this.....but it is always fun to do.

HUMMINGBIRD ON THE DOGWOODS
"HUMMINGBIRD ON THE DOGWOODS"
17 3/4" X 14 3/4"
Original Design Base on my own Photograph
Rawedged Fused Applique
Machine Quilted.
This little quilt was fun to work on during lots of distractions this month. May is one of the busiest months for me....lots of celebrations....lots to do in yard . So a small uncomplicated piece still keeps me working but is just relaxing and joyous to work on.
That is a good thing to do once in a while.
This little quilt will be available in my Etsy Shoppe you can find the link to it in my sidebar.

Must Have Horses
Well…..moved the geese more to the forefront and then added two horses that have walked up the hill and out of the fog. One more addition and then I will quilt these critters. The next addition will take a bit of time to construct but perhaps by the end of the day tomorrow I will have it finished if all goes smoothly.
This quilt is approximately 28 inches by 16 1/2 inches.

Fog Piece Continues
Work continues on the fog piece. You will see the quilting is finished on the large tree now and the foreground is quilted as well. I have fused on a few geese and will work on them next. Still more to come! Stay tuned.
It appears this will become my first finished quilt of 2014!
Happy New Year Everyone Of You Who Read This Post. May it Bring Peace, Love and Joy Into Each Of Your Lives And Those You Hold Dear To You. Barbara.

Tree Addition
Work continues on the Fog piece adding to the foreground with one very large tree. You can see here that one side (right) is quilted with small branches while the left side is not done yet. Tomorrow is my mother's Christmas so not much will happen on this piece for a few days. Stay tuned...more to come.

Tree Quilting
Quilted the tree branches in today. Now will be taking a few days off because in a little while my Grandsons, Max and Clayton will be arriving for a sleep over. So I will be spending as much time as I can with them until they leave in the morning. After they leave my daughter Molly comes and we are spending a mother daughter day shopping and have lunch together down in Milwaukee. She will stay over night afterwards and leave Sunday . So a busy couple of days to have some fun and take a break.

Flowers
I have been steadily working on my fuchsias. Now I am at the stage where I must decide if I need to add more or just add the birds and crop the bottom edge a bit.
What I think I will do is finish quilting what is on there now and then make the birds.
Once they are finished I will just pin them on the surface and re-evaluate then.
Here is how it will look if I crop it……we will see when the birds are finished.

Quilting and Adding
Work continues on my Fuchsia piece. The larger flowers are all quilted down and the smaller ones hopefully looking behind the larger ones are finished and will be quilted next. There is a lot more to do but I am happy with the progress so far.
We spent a weekend in Chicago to see all of our children. Two of our girls live in Indianapolis so Chicago makes for a great midway point for us to get together. It was great fun and here are some photos of us enjoying the Windy City.

Its All About the Details
Above you will see I added a fence...it is green but you can not see that in this photo....lighting in studio today is bad due to very cloudy day.
I want to add some fir trees so loosely sketched them on a piece of fused fabric.
Here is the fabric choice I used...sometimes you find fabric that you plan on using on water or a prairie and it works well in many other uses.
Once cut out I place them on the hilside........and then
Quilt! Here is one finished, the other unfinished. I love YLI Forest 24V 40wt Cotton thread for doing evergreens. It is a variegated thread that is wonderful for needles on pines.
Once the pines were finished I added the foreground trees that go in front of them. See how this is coming together fast. Not bad for two days work. Stay tuned though...more is to come.
