Barn Silo & Shed

I have added a few structures to the background today and quilted them.  They are subtle but there and nestled into the hillside.  Now I will add more trees around them.  It is a slow process partly due to spending yesterday at my son's putting up the rest of his fence and then this morning my dogs had their annual checkups.  All is good with them but it caused a bit of a late start in the studio.  It is getting there though and that is a good thing!

Dreary foggy day today,  Looks like it is late in the day all day long.  Good to be in the studio with some Wailin' Jennys on itunes!

Lots of Good Things

 Today I went to see my quilt hanging in our local art gallery called "Gallery 110 North".  If you do not remember this it is called "Reeds On the Mullet River".    Not a good shot of it but you can see it here:  "Reeds"

 Our Gallery has been remodeled and the new gallery is wonderful.  Still needs better spot lighting adjustment but over all it is a huge improvement.

 The work was wonderful and I enjoyed seeing some of my friends work as well.

When I got home a package was waiting for me.  It was an Acrylic painting by Libby Fife.  I won this in a drawing on her blog last week and it arrived today.  I put it on an easel on my dresser.  I love the colors and Libby's technique.  If you want to see her work visit her blog here:   quiltedcraftsman

 It came with a photograph of another of her paintings on the front of the enclosed  card.  Thank you Libby, my cup runneth over!

I also have my kitchen back.  Yes the tile man came back and sealed the edges where the tile meets the countertops.  After he left I could put everything back on top just being careful not to put it against the wall too close as to hit the grout line.

I am so happy to have a working kitchen back and it looks fabulous to me.  Nice and bright and cheerful.

The day was a good one despite it being cold and rainy.

Rejection

Today I got a rejection letter in the mail.

I had submitted two of my quilts into the "Alive In The Arts" Juried Exhibition 

at Gallery 110 North here in my home town of Plymouth.

The juror was a Mr. Richard Daehnert, Art Professor Emeritus from the University of Tennessee.  

I can not say I am not disappointed as this was my first attempt of getting into a mainstream art show.

Added to that, it is in my home town.   However, I do understand all the reasons that can cause your work to be rejected and it is not always that your work is inferior.  So.....I will move forward with 

Gouldians being entered in "The Quilt Expo" in Madison Wi. and if it does well I may enter it in the AQS Paducah Show next year.

"Cobs" will remain on my wall here at home for me to enjoy for now.

Juried Show

Our local art gallery is having a juried show in April of all types of Art.  So I decided to enter these two pieces:  "Cobs" and "Gouldians".  I am anxious to see if I get in and can help promote art quilts as being accepted into the gallery.  They have had them in before as a show only with art quilts but never mixed in with what is the "norm".   Of course the competition will be tough, but you never know unless you try.  Cross your fingers!
