I put Mr. Penguin on my background and not only was I not happy with my feather border I was not happy that he was lonely. So .........
I took off the old border and placed his buddies on the quilt. This is much better. Not only is he not alone anymore but the smaller penguins add more depth to the piece.
Then I added an inner boarder leaving the background go out to the edge. I like this so much better. Now it is time to quilt these birds.

Most definitely!
It's amazing how fast this one came together. I guess without all of those choices for realistic feathers the fabric selection might have been a little easier than the owl. I won't let my son see this. He loves penguins and I'm not going to make him one!
What a difference!!! Fantastic piece!
Wow! wonderful addition. Love the border now too.
Amazing! Your art and YOU!
Those were the right changes for sure! They all look like they are having a lot of fun:)
Wow! I echo what everyone else said.
Glad to hear everyone is happy with the changes. It is a journey of good and bad sometimes. Thank you all again! You all contribute to my inspiration.
Adding the little penguins was a brilliant idea! The whole piece is brilliant! Wonderful stuff, Barb!
Beautiful as always, but what I really love is the action of the front penguin. Usually people depict penguins standing around in their typical upright posture. This one is full of energy and motion. Outstanding!
And PS: new border is perfect and the addition of the background birds was a smart move. Those penguiins are never alone!
I really love the new additions, gives it life instead of a photo look. We finally got our power back, yesterday afternoon and a new cable box this morning. Of all times for that to go, lol.

I really love this.. People are always asking me for a penguin pattern and I don't have any... You should turn this into a pattern..
