"Three Poppies"
23"X 26"
Pieced, Raw Edged Fused Applique,
Machine Quilted.
With another huge snowstorm dropping about 14 inches of snow on us just when we could see a bit of grass, I decided to spend the day in my studio working on the flowers to complete my pieced background. To solve the problem of the H's (see previous post) I fused over them. Bet you can't find them now!
I wanted the dead heads, stems and leaves to come in and out of the background while the flowers
were the center of attention. I wanted that lush spring green feel with the sense of sunlight peaking through the foliage. I think I accomplished that.
When I do a lot of quilting I like to take breaks and begin another piece. So I fused this background together. This one will be titled "Reflection".
I have not put the foreground pieces on yet. but I am happy with it so far.

Just lovely. I really like the fabric that you used for the poppy stems!
This is wonderful. Those poppies absolutely jump out at you first thing. Nicely done.

Fantastic. The background proved to be perfect even with those "h". I love it.
beautiful!
Both pieces are beautiful, but I'm partial to the poppies! So bright and gay!
This is a beautiful quilt!
Those look stunning on the background you made, perfect contrast to the darker shades. Can't wait to see what you do with reflections. I treated myself to some batiks, trying to find ones with patterns that i can use in art pieces.

That neutral background really made the bright flowers "pop" out. Good idea! You have a great start on that second one also. Busy, busy:):):)
You speed demon, you! Amazing how quickly you were able to do this lovely thing.
Wow, wow, wow!!!!! I love the poppies!!!!!
Lots of poppies but no Watson. We want more Watson, chant, chant.....
I love both pieces, but reflections really catches my feelings, not sure why. Love and hugs
